Public Transit
From downtown Roanoke, head to the nearest bus stop at the Roanoke City Market. Take the Valley Metro Bus Route 22 towards the Blue Ridge Parkway. Inquire with the bus driver for the nearest stop to Roanoke River Overlook. The journey will take approximately 30 minutes. Once you disembark, follow the signs to the Overlook, which is about a 15-minute walk uphill on Blue Ridge Parkway.
Biking
Rent a bike from a local rental shop in downtown Roanoke. Head towards the Roanoke River Greenway and follow it until you reach the intersection with the Blue Ridge Parkway. Turn onto Blue Ridge Parkway and continue biking uphill for about 3 miles. The Roanoke River Overlook will be on your left, marked by a small parking area and a scenic viewpoint.
Walking
If you prefer to walk, start from the Roanoke City Market and head east on Campbell Avenue. Continue walking until you reach 4th Street and turn left. Follow 4th Street until you reach the entrance of the Blue Ridge Parkway. From there, it will be a steep uphill walk for about 2 miles until you reach Roanoke River Overlook.
