From the northern entrance at Front Royal, drive south on Skyline Drive, enjoying scenic views along the way. Once you reach mile marker 62.5, look for the parking area on your right. There are well-marked signs indicating the overlook. Park your vehicle, and you will find a short path leading to the overlook area where you can enjoy stunning views of the South River Valley.

Using public transportation to reach South River Overlook is more challenging as Shenandoah National Park does not have extensive public transit options. However, you can take a bus to nearby towns such as Luray or Harrisonburg. From these towns, you may need to arrange for rideshare services like Uber or Lyft to get to the park entrance. Once in the park, you will still need to rely on walking or hitching rides with other visitors to reach South River Overlook at mile marker 62.5 on Skyline Drive.
