Public Transit
Start your journey at the Federal Way Transit Center, which is centrally located. From there, board Sound Transit Route 586 heading towards Tacoma. The bus will take you through various neighborhoods while providing a scenic view of the area. After approximately 30 minutes, get off at the Tacoma Dome Station. Once you arrive at the Tacoma Dome Station, transfer to Pierce Transit Route 1 heading to North Tacoma. Stay on the bus for about 20 minutes, and get off at the 'N 26th St & N Starr St' stop. From this stop, walk north on N Starr St for about 10 minutes. You will find Tacoma's First Hospital Historical Marker located at 2509 N Starr St, Tacoma, WA 98403.

If you prefer biking, you can start from the Federal Way Community Center. Head west on S 320th St towards 1st Ave S, then turn left onto 1st Ave S and continue until you reach the intersection with S 348th St. Turn right onto S 348th St and follow it, which will become N 21st St in Tacoma. Continue onto N 21st St until you reach N Starr St, then turn left. The historical marker will be on your right after a few blocks at 2509 N Starr St, Tacoma, WA 98403. The ride is approximately 10 miles and should take about 1 hour depending on your biking speed.

Walking
For those who wish to walk from central Federal Way, begin at the Federal Way Transit Center and head south on 20th Ave S. Turn left onto S 348th St and continue until you reach the intersection with Pacific Hwy E. Cross over to the other side of the highway (be cautious of traffic!). Continue straight onto S 21st St, which will take you into Tacoma. Follow S 21st St until it turns into N 21st St, then turn left onto N Starr St. The historical marker will be on your right at 2509 N Starr St, Tacoma, WA 98403. Please note this is quite a long walk, approximately 6 miles and will take approximately 2 hours.
