Car
If you are traveling by car, start by heading to the Mount Rainier National Park entrance. From Enumclaw, take WA-410 E for approximately 25 miles. Continue onto WA-165 S for about 12 miles until you reach the Carbon River entrance of Mount Rainier National Park. Once you enter the park, follow the signs for Carbon River Rainforest Trail. The trailhead is located at the end of the Carbon River Road. Keep in mind that there is a vehicle entrance fee for the park, typically around $30 for a standard vehicle, valid for seven days.
Public Transportation
To reach the Carbon River Rainforest Trail using public transportation, start by taking a bus from Seattle to Enumclaw. The bus will take you to the Enumclaw Transit Center. From there, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you to the Carbon River entrance of Mount Rainier National Park. It's approximately a 30-minute drive from Enumclaw to the park entrance. Please check local bus schedules for the most accurate times and availability, as public transport may not operate frequently.
Parking Information
Upon arriving at the Carbon River entrance, there is parking available near the trailhead. Make sure to arrive early during peak seasons, as parking can fill up quickly. There is no additional cost for parking once you have paid the entrance fee for the park.
