  • Car

    If you're driving, start from Ashford, WA 98304. Head east on WA-706 E for approximately 12 miles. You will pass through the Mount Rainier National Park entrance. After entering the park, continue on the same road until you reach the junction at the Sunrise area. Follow the signs towards the Sunrise Visitor Center. There is an entrance fee to enter the park, which is $30 per vehicle (valid for 7 days). Once you reach the Sunrise Visitor Center, park your vehicle in the designated parking area.

    From the Sunrise Visitor Center, start your hike to Mt. Fremont Fire Lookout. The trailhead is located just behind the Visitor Center. Follow the Mount Fremont Trail, which is well-marked and approximately 5.6 miles one way. Expect a moderate hike with an elevation gain of about 1,000 feet. The trail offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and wildflower meadows. Be sure to bring plenty of water and snacks, as well as appropriate hiking gear.

  • Public Transportation

    If you are using public transportation, your best option is to take a bus to Ashford, which is served by various shuttle services from nearby cities. From the Ashford stop, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you to the Mount Rainier National Park entrance. Once inside the park, follow the same driving guidance to reach the Sunrise Visitor Center, and then hike the Mount Fremont Trail as described above.
