From anywhere in the Driftless Area, head towards U.S. Route 61. If you're near Prairie du Chien, take WI-35 N to U.S. Route 61 and head south towards Dubuque. If you're closer to Viroqua, take WI-56 W to connect to U.S. Route 61. Continue south until you reach the junction with U.S. Route 20. Merge onto U.S. Route 20 E, which will lead you directly into Dubuque. Once in Dubuque, follow signs for the Port of Dubuque. Turn onto E 3rd St. The National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium will be located at 350 E 3rd St. There is a parking lot available nearby, which may incur a fee of approximately $5-$10 depending on the duration of your stay.

For example, you can take a bus from Prairie du Chien to Dubuque. Once you arrive at the Dubuque bus station, you can either walk or take a local taxi or rideshare service to reach the museum. From the bus station, it's about a 1-mile walk to the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium. Head southeast on 16th St toward Iowa St, then turn right onto Iowa St and continue until you reach E 3rd St. The museum will be on your left at 350 E 3rd St. Be sure to check the bus schedules in advance, as service may vary.
