What to expect
Tbilissi / Tbilisi has been the capital of Georgia for 1500 years and is characterized by its cultural and religious diversity and rich history. On our tour of the city we discover such interesting places as - Old Town with its famous sulfur baths, Peace Bridge, Freedom Square, Pushkin's Squere, Narikala Fortress, Antschcischati and Metechi Churches, Mother of Georgia, Mosque, Sinagoga s.w. After the tour snack and then free time in the city. In the evening a delicious dinner in a typical Georgian restaurant with Georgian wine and food.
Signagi
Georgia - country of origin of wine - has great wine culture. More than 425 grape varieties are found in this country. Most of these types of wine (80) are found in Kakheti, the best wine region in Georgia. But the region is not only known for its wine, but also for its historic buildings and unique landscape. Sighnaghi is the pearl of Kakheti and is known as the "city of love". From the city we can enjoy beautiful views of Alazani plain and Caucasus. Snack in a nice Fehmilla restaurant in Sighnaghi. In the evening drive to Mtskheta.
Until the 5th century, Mtskheta was the royal seat and capital of Georgia. Numerous archeological findings and historic buildings speak about the glorious past of the city. Two of the most important Georgian edifices - the 12th-century Swetizchoveli Monastery and the 7th-century Jvari Church - are located here and both are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Legend has it that in Mtskheta, in Svetitskhoveli Monastery, the largest sanctuary in Georgia - the Klamote of Jesus Christ - is buried. After the sightseeing tour of Mtskheta we continue north towards Stepantsminda.
Gergeti Trinity Church
Near Stepantsminda lies a beautiful village - Djuta. In the morning Fhart to Djuta (about 40 minutes), where we can walk for 2-3 hours towards Tschauchi mountain. The guests, who do not like hiking, can enjoy the beautiful landscape and pleasant mountain atmosphere at a Camping Plazt-Zeta. In the afternoon drive back to our accommodation and free time.
Great changing scenery from east to west Georgia to the city Kutaisi (second largest city of Georgia). In the afternoon, visit the small town of Gori (Stalin's birthplace) and an ancient cave town Uplisziche from the 6th to the 4th century BC. For centuries it was the most important trade and religious center in the Caucasus and played a major role in the political and social life of the country. Although the complex was first ruined by earthquakes and later by Mongols, the remains of ancient amphitheatres, gladiatorial battlefields, temples, caves and other things still fascinate visitors today. After the lunch break in Gori we drive over Rikoti Pass to Kutaisi. In Gori we can visit the Stalinsmuseum (optional).
Kutaisi is the second largest city in Georgia. Here is also a beautiful monastery from the 13th century with wonderful murals - Gelati, built by David the 4th builder, the greatest king of Georgia. Gelati was not only a religious but also a large training center in the Middle Ages. After visiting Gelati Monastery, we make a small city tour and visit a peasant market. In the afternoon drive to Tbilisi.
