The Accademia has housed the David since 1873. It also has other sculptures by Michelangelo; a large collection of Florentine paintings from 1300 to 1600; mural-like pieces from Perugino, Filippino Lippi, Pontormo, Domenico Ghirlandaio, and Bronzino; and, downstairs, Florentine Gothic paintings, including altarpieces by Giotto.
