    The tour operator, Dolcevita Discoveries and its alter ego, Ali Abid, are a total sham. I should have read prior reviews sooner. The operator supposed to send me tickets within 25 hours of booking. Several days later, after no tix arrived, I messaged the operator: no response. The I finally called him, and he gave me a baloney story that the Necropolis is only certain days each week and the days constantly change. He said it was possible the tour might be cancelled. I told him I was getting on a plane to Rome from the US and needed to plan my schedule. He said he would confirm with the necropolis and get back to me by end of day. He never got back to me. On the morning of the tour, I tried to call Mr. Abid but he did not answer. Finally, I messaged Mr. Abid again and said I didn't want to get up early and walk 30 minutes to the tour site, only to be stood up. I said I would not show up and wanted a refund. Later that morning, I got a cancellation notice, and Mr. Abid finally messaged me to say he was sorry for the delay but the necropolis was not available that day. Although Mr. Abid promptly issued a refund, this pattern of selling tours that he cannot deliver, holding onto customers' money for weeks on end, failing to communicate, and cancelling at the last minute is his m.o. (Read the reviews here and on Get Your Guide.) Ironically, he has the chutzpah to sell his tours as non-refundable, while he freely jumps ship at the last minute. The only upside of this fiasco is that I got to sleep in the morning of the alleged tour. Trip Advisor should boot this operator off the platform ASAP.
