Arco da Porta Nova is one of the entrances to the historic center of the city and is located in Largo da Porta Nova. In its origins it was one of the medieval gates of the wall that defended the population. It is from this point that the meeting point will be made and our tour of the city center will begin.

Inspired by the Romanesque architecture of the Abbey of Cluny, in Burgundy, the cathedral was consecrated in 1089, when the work was not yet completed. During the following centuries, the Cathedral of Braga was modified and expanded several times, which explains why the building is an architectural patchwork.
