Getting There

    Weeks Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve is located on US Highway 98, approximately 12 miles southeast of Fairhope. From Fairhope, head south on US-98. The entrance to the Weeks Bay Visitor Center will be on the right. If you reach the Fish River Bridge, you've gone too far. There is a designated parking area at the Reserve available on a first-come, first-served basis. Parking is free.

  • Public Transport

    While Fairhope doesn't have an extensive public transportation system, Baldwin Regional Area Transit System (BRATS) does provide service to Fairhope. From a BRATS stop in Fairhope, a taxi or ride-share service (Uber/Lyft) would be needed to cover the remaining distance to Weeks Bay, approximately 12 miles. Taxi/ride-share cost is estimated at $25-35. Reservations for BRATS should be made 24 to 48 hours in advance. Please visit the BRATS website for current fare rates and the Eastern Shore Express page for specific bus route times to Fairhope.

Weeks Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, established in 1986, encompasses over 9,000 acres of protected lands and waters where the Fish and Magnolia Rivers meet Mobile Bay. The reserve is managed by the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources in partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
