Von Braun Center: Huntsville's Premier Event Destination
Huntsville's premier multi-purpose venue for concerts, conventions, sports, and entertainment in the heart of downtown.
The Von Braun Center (VBC), named for rocket pioneer Dr. Wernher Von Braun, has been a cornerstone of Huntsville since opening in 1975. Originally named the Von Braun Civic Center, the VBC has grown into a sprawling complex that hosts a wide array of events, from large-scale conventions and trade shows to concerts, Broadway performances, and sporting events. Located in downtown Huntsville, the VBC is surrounded by hotels, shops, and restaurants, making it a convenient destination for visitors. Overlooking Big Spring International Park, the VBC offers a scenic backdrop for any event. The center boasts over 170,000 square feet of flexible meeting, exhibit, and performance areas, including the Propst Arena, multiple exhibit halls, the Mark C. Smith Concert Hall, the Playhouse, and the Mars Music Hall. The VBC has a rich history of hosting legendary performers, including Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley. Throughout the years, it has become an integral part of the Huntsville community, hosting graduations, trade shows, and other significant events. Recent updates include the addition of Mars Music Hall and Rhythm on Monroe, the VBC's first on-site restaurant with a rooftop bar. As the VBC celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2025, it continues to evolve and serve as a dynamic center for entertainment and community engagement.
