Skënduli House: A Window into Ottoman Gjirokastra

The intricate wood carvings, decorated ceilings, and innovative use of space highlight the craftsmanship of the Ottoman period. One of the most captivating features is the wedding room, adorned with 15 stained glass windows. The house also features hidden passageways and storage spaces, adding to its mystique.During the communist era, the house was used as the city's Ethnographic Museum. After the fall of communism, it was returned to the Skënduli family, who now welcome visitors and share stories about the house's history.
