Originally established in 1947 as the "Folk Museum," the museum officially took its current form in 1949. In 1996, it was moved to its current location, the former residence of the patriot Oso Kuka.The museum's collections are diverse, encompassing artifacts from the Neolithic period to the late Middle Ages. The archaeology section features tools, household items, weapons, and other objects discovered in the Shkodër region. The ethnography section showcases traditional costumes, handicrafts, and items related to local life from the 18th to 20th centuries.
