Getting There

    From Algiers, take the A1 highway east towards Tizi Ouzou. Once in Tizi Ouzou, follow signs for the D30 road towards the town of Aïn El Hammam. From Aïn El Hammam, continue on the D30 towards Tikjda, where you will find signs directing you to Djurdjura National Park. The drive from Algiers is approximately 135 km and takes around 1 hour and 45 minutes. Be sure to have enough fuel as gas stations may be sparse near the park. Parking is available at the park entrance. Parking fees are approximately 100 DZD per day.

    From Algiers, take a bus or shared taxi to Tizi Ouzou. From Tizi Ouzou, take a local bus or taxi to Aïn El Hammam. From Aïn El Hammam, hire a taxi or find a shared taxi to take you to Tikjda, where you will find signs directing you to Djurdjura National Park. The bus fare from Algiers to Tizi Ouzou is approximately 300-500 DZD. The local transport to the park entrance may cost an additional 200-400 DZD. Confirm bus schedules in advance, as they may vary.

Djurdjura National Park, named after the Djurdjura mountain range, is a protected area in northern Algeria that encompasses a diverse landscape of mountains, forests, valleys and rivers. Established in 1925 and re-established as a national park in 1983, it spans approximately 82.25 square kilometers. The park is characterized by its dramatic limestone peaks, deep gorges, and dense forests. The park's highest peak, Lalla Khedidja, reaches an elevation of 2,308 meters, offering panoramic views of the surrounding Atlas Mountains. The north side of the massif features deep river valleys and grottoes, while the southern side is covered in dense Atlas cedar forests. Djurdjura is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including the endangered Barbary macaque, various birds of prey, and Mediterranean flora.
