Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving to Parque Nacional Los Glaciares, start by heading towards El Chaltén, a small village that serves as the gateway to the park. From El Chaltén, take Route 23 southbound for about 40 kilometers (25 miles) until you reach the park entrance. The entrance is well-marked and has a visitor center where you can gather information about trails and activities inside the park. Note that there is an entrance fee of approximately ARS 800 per person, so be prepared to pay.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  To reach Parque Nacional Los Glaciares via public transportation, take a bus from El Calafate to El Chaltén. The buses are operated by several companies, and the journey takes around 3 hours. Upon arriving in El Chaltén, you can either walk to the park entrance (approximately 30 minutes) or take a taxi. Ensure you check the bus schedules in advance as they may vary, especially during the off-peak season.

• Taxi or Rideshare

  If you prefer a more direct route from El Chaltén to Parque Nacional Los Glaciares, consider taking a taxi or rideshare service. This option is convenient, especially if you're traveling with a group. The ride should take about 10-15 minutes to the park entrance, depending on traffic. Expect to pay around ARS 2000 for this service.

• Hiking

  Once inside the park, there are numerous hiking trails. If you're coming from El Chaltén, you can start the Laguna de los Tres trail, which is one of the most popular hikes in the area. The trailhead is accessible from the village and takes about 8 hours round trip. Make sure to wear appropriate hiking gear, bring plenty of water, and check the weather conditions before heading out.
