Discover more about Grand Canyon West Skywalk

The Grand Canyon Skywalk, located at Grand Canyon West on the Hualapai Reservation, is a horseshoe-shaped cantilever bridge with a glass walkway that allows visitors to walk over the edge of the Grand Canyon. Opened to the public in 2007, this engineering marvel extends 70 feet (21 meters) from the canyon rim, offering unparalleled views of the canyon 4,000 feet (1,200 meters) below. The Skywalk was conceived in 1996 by businessman David Jin, who partnered with the Hualapai Tribe to bring the project to life. Construction began in 2004, and the Skywalk officially opened on March 28, 2007. The structure is made of over 1 million pounds of steel and 83,000 pounds of glass and can withstand an 8.0 magnitude earthquake and winds up to 100 miles per hour. It is strong enough to hold seventy-one 747 airplanes. When visiting the Skywalk, guests are required to store personal belongings, including cell phones and cameras, in free lockers to protect the glass surface. Professional photographers are available to capture the experience, with photos available for purchase. Besides the Skywalk, Grand Canyon West offers other attractions, including Eagle Point, Guano Point, Hualapai Ranch, and helicopter tours. The Hualapai Tribe also presents cultural exhibits and performances, offering insights into their history and traditions.
