Arkansas National Guard Museum: A Chronicle of Service

The Arkansas National Guard Museum, situated within Camp Robinson in North Little Rock, chronicles the rich military history of Arkansas, from its early militia days to its present-day role. Housed in the historic Lloyd England Hall, built in 1931 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the museum showcases the evolution of the Arkansas National Guard and the story of Camp Robinson itself, formerly known as Camp Pike. The museum's exhibits feature a diverse collection of artifacts, including uniforms, weapons, photographs, and personal stories that highlight the commitment and valor of Arkansas soldiers throughout history. Visitors can explore the state's military contributions to conflicts such as the Mexican War, the Civil War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Gulf War, and the Global War on Terror. The museum also preserves the history of Camp Robinson, which served as a training base for soldiers during World War I and World War II and housed a prisoner of war camp for German soldiers. Highlights of the museum include scale models of Camp Pike circa 1918 and Camp Robinson circa 1943, a display of almost 200 weapons known as the Yeater Collection, and a Confederate Civil War battle flag captured at the Engagement at Jenkins' Ferry. The museum's mission is to collect and preserve information and artifacts related to the Arkansas National Guard, its militia predecessor, Camp Robinson, and Camp Pike, making them available to the public.
