The Cairns Self-Guided Heritage Walk starts at 161 Abbott St, Cairns City. If you are starting from the Cairns Esplanade, head towards Abbott Street. Walk along the Esplanade until you reach the intersection with Abbott Street. Turn right onto Abbott Street. Continue walking until you reach 161 Abbott Street. This is a pleasant walk of approximately 15 minutes.

Cairns has a comprehensive bus network. From Cairns City Bus Station, the walk starting point at 161 Abbott St is a short walk away. Check Translink for the most up-to-date bus schedules and routes. Single bus tickets cost $0.50.

There are several parking options near the starting point of the heritage walk. On-street parking is available, with fees of $2.20 per hour. Alternatively, the Cairns Night Markets on Abbott Street offer parking above the markets for $2.20 per hour, with a daily maximum of $17.00. Cairns Central Shopping Centre also provides parking, with the first 3 hours free.
