Discover more about Palm Cove Jetty

The Palm Cove Jetty, located at the northern end of Williams Esplanade, is more than just a pier; it's a vibrant hub for anglers and sightseers. Originally constructed in the 1980s as a departure point for Great Barrier Reef snorkeling tours, the jetty's exposed location made it unsuitable for cruise ships. However, locals quickly recognized its potential as a prime fishing platform, and it has since become a popular spot for both seasoned anglers and families looking to enjoy a day by the sea. The jetty extends approximately 40 meters into the ocean, providing access to deeper waters and a variety of fish species. Anglers can catch Spanish mackerel, school mackerel, barramundi, giant trevally, queenfish, and various smaller species like whiting and stripeys. The jetty's location near rocky headlands and sea-draining creeks also makes it an ideal spot for fish to move through. Fishing is great all year round. Beyond its fishing appeal, the Palm Cove Jetty offers stunning views of Double Island and the surrounding coastline. It's a great place to take a stroll, enjoy the sea breeze, and watch the local fishermen in action. The jetty is easily accessible, with level access from the nearby car park and disability parking available. It is also close to shops, restaurants, and other amenities, making it a convenient destination for a day trip.
