Discover more about Laidley Pioneer Village & Museum

The Laidley Pioneer Village & Museum, established in 1972, offers visitors a captivating journey into Queensland's rural past. As the first heritage village of its kind in Queensland, it vividly portrays the lives of early pioneers in the Lockyer Valley. The museum is located on the original resting paddock for Cobb & Co coaching horses, along the historic transport route from Ipswich to Toowoomba. The village features a collection of restored buildings, each filled with items that reflect the daily lives of early settlers. Explore the old shire office, post office, general store, and even the original police cells from the Laidley Police Complex. Step inside a fully furnished 110-year-old schoolhouse, a pre-Medicare hospital, and a traditional butcher shop. The museum also boasts an impressive array of vintage machinery, including a rare Linn Tractor, and horse-drawn farm carts. Special exhibits showcase early 1900s fashion, war memorabilia, children's toys, and photography equipment. On Wednesdays, special occasions, or by request, visitors can witness blacksmith demonstrations, a craft central to pioneer life. The Pioneer Memorial Chapel, originally the Blenheim Methodist Chapel, is available for weddings and other special events. The museum actively participates in local festivities like the Lockyer Valley Heritage Festival and the Laidley Spring Festival.
