Car
If you are traveling by car, head to Byron Bay. From the center of Byron Bay, get onto Lawson Street and continue straight until you reach Lighthouse Road. Turn left onto Lighthouse Road and follow it for approximately 3 kilometers. You will see signs for the Captain Cook Lookout & Picnic Area. There is a car park available at the lookout where you can safely park your vehicle. Note that there is no entry fee for the lookout area.
Public Transportation
To reach Captain Cook Lookout by public transport, take a bus from Byron Bay to the Lighthouse Road stop. You can catch a bus from the Byron Bay bus terminal; buses are operated by Surfside Buslines. The journey takes about 10 minutes. Once you get off at Lighthouse Road, it's a short 1.5-kilometer walk to the lookout. Follow Lighthouse Road, and you will see the signs directing you to the Captain Cook Lookout. Be sure to check the bus schedule for return trips, as services may be limited.
Bicycle
For those who prefer cycling, Byron Bay is bike-friendly, and you can rent a bicycle from various shops in town. From the center of Byron Bay, cycle along Lawson Street, then turn onto Lighthouse Road. The distance to Captain Cook Lookout is about 3 kilometers, and the ride offers scenic views along the way. Please be cautious of traffic and use bike lanes where available.
Walking
If you're feeling adventurous and fit, you can walk to Captain Cook Lookout from Byron Bay. It's a scenic 3-kilometer walk that takes about 45 minutes to an hour. Start from the center of Byron Bay and head down Lawson Street to Lighthouse Road. Follow Lighthouse Road up to the lookout, enjoying the beautiful coastal views along the way. Remember to wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
