Getting There

Walking
If you are starting from Graz's main square, Hauptplatz, head southeast towards the Herrengasse street. Walk along Herrengasse until you reach the intersection with the Karmeliterplatz. Turn left onto Karmeliterplatz and continue until you reach the end of the square. From there, take the right onto the Karmelitergasse street. Follow this street until you see the entrance to the Burggarten on your left. Enter the garden, and the Befreiungsdenkmal will be on your right.

From Graz Hauptbahnhof (main train station), you can take tram line 1 towards 'Graz, St. Peter' or line 3 towards 'Graz, Gösting'. Get off at the stop 'Jakominiplatz'. From Jakominiplatz, transfer to tram line 4 or line 5 and get off at 'Burggarten'. Once you exit the tram, walk towards the entrance of the Burggarten, and you will find the Befreiungsdenkmal on your right within the park.
