Getting there

Walking

From Salzburg's Old Town, the FestungsBahn valley station is a short walk. From the Salzburg Cathedral, walk south towards Kapitelplatz, then follow the signs to Festungsgasse 4. The walk is approximately 5 minutes. Purchase tickets at the valley station. A basic round-trip ticket on the funicular is around €12 for adults.

Public Transport

From Salzburg Hauptbahnhof (main train station), take bus lines 1, 3, 5, 6, or 25 to the Rathaus or Ferdinand-Hanusch-Platz stop. From there, walk through the Old Town to Festungsgasse 4, following signs for the FestungsBahn. A single bus ticket costs approximately €2.50 if purchased at a vending machine or €3.00 if purchased on board. The bus journey takes around 15 minutes, and the walk from the bus stop to the FestungsBahn is about 5 minutes.

Taxi

Taxis are readily available throughout Salzburg. A taxi from Salzburg Hauptbahnhof to the FestungsBahn valley station takes approximately 5-10 minutes, depending on traffic. The fare is estimated to be between €9 and €12. Ask the driver to drop you off at Festungsgasse 4.
