Walking
From the Dürnstein Parkplatz P2, walk towards the town center, passing the Unterloiben gate. Continue along the main street (Hauptstrasse), keeping the Danube River to your left. The Steinformationen will be visible on your right, forming the backdrop to the town. The path to Dürnstein Castle, which offers excellent views of the formations, is clearly signposted from the town center. Note that the walk to the castle involves a steep climb.
Public Transport
If arriving by bus (Line 715 from Krems or Melk), disembark at the Dürnstein Parkplatz P2. From there, follow the walking directions into the town center. A single bus fare within the Wachau region costs approximately €2-€11, depending on the distance. Consider purchasing a 'Wachau Day Ticket' for €12 if you plan to use the bus for further exploration of the valley. This ticket also covers the Dürnstein-Rossatz ferry.
Driving
Parking is available at the Dürnstein Parkplatz P2, located just outside the town walls. Parking fees are approximately €4 for 2 hours, with increasing rates for longer durations.
