Getting There

• Walking

  From the center of San Ignacio, head towards the Cahal Pech Archaeological Site located on the hill. Walk up the hill on the main road, which is called Cahal Pech Road. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with the Western Highway. Cross the highway carefully and follow the signs towards the San Ignacio Resort Hotel. Once you reach the hotel, ask locals for directions to Big Rock Falls, as it's a bit remote. Typically, you will be advised to catch a local bus or taxi from there, but the walk to the nearest bus stop is around 15 minutes.

• Bus

  After reaching the San Ignacio Resort Hotel, look for the local buses that travel to the area around Big Rock Falls. These buses often leave from the main bus terminal close to the hotel. Board a bus heading towards the Mountain Pine Ridge area. It will take approximately 30 minutes to reach the closest drop-off point to Big Rock Falls. Once you get off, you may need to walk a short distance (about 10-15 minutes) along the dirt path to reach the falls. Keep an eye out for signs or ask locals for assistance.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from San Ignacio. Head to the main square where taxis often gather. Negotiate a fare with the driver to take you to Big Rock Falls. The ride should take approximately 20-25 minutes. Make sure to confirm with the driver about waiting for you, as you may want to stay for a while before returning to San Ignacio.
