Getting There

  • Metro

    Start your journey by taking the Metro Line 1 (the Yellow Line) from any station in Rio de Janeiro. If you're in Copacabana, for example, head to the Cantagalo station. Board the train heading towards General Osório. Get off at the Botafogo station. From Botafogo, transfer to Line 2 (the Green Line) and head towards the Jardim Botânico station.

  • Bus

    Once you reach Jardim Botânico station, exit the metro and take a bus. Look for the buses marked with 'Corcovado'. The bus stop is located right outside the metro station. Buses that go to the Corcovado area include the 583, which will take you closer to the base of the Corcovado Mountain. Ask the bus driver to let you know when you reach the Parque Lage.

  • Walking

    After getting off the bus at Parque Lage, you will find the entrance to the hiking trail. The trailhead is located near the main building of Parque Lage. Follow the signs leading to the 'Trilha para o Corcovado' (Trail to Corcovado). The hike is steep and can take about 1.5 to 2 hours to reach the top, where the Christ the Redeemer statue stands.
