Discover more about Turtle Bay Beach

Turtle Bay Beach is a hidden gem tucked away on the north shore of St. John, offering a tranquil escape from the more crowded beaches. Historically part of the Caneel Bay Resort, access was once limited, but with its transfer to the Virgin Islands National Park on April 22, 2024, there is hope for improved public access. The beach itself is characterized by its soft, white sands and crystal-clear turquoise waters, ideal for swimming, sunbathing, and snorkeling. The calm waters invite exploration of the vibrant coral reefs and diverse marine life, including sea turtles, from which the bay gets its name. Snorkeling is particularly rewarding along the rocky coral outcroppings on either side of the beach.Located on the northwestern tip of the Caneel Bay peninsula, Turtle Bay offers stunning views across the Durloe Channel to nearby cays. The beach is north-facing, enjoying plenty of sunshine in the early afternoon and shade later in the day. While relatively undeveloped, its natural beauty and peaceful atmosphere make it a must-visit destination for those seeking a serene island experience.
