Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Veliko Tarnovo. Head southwest on the E85 road for about 50 km until you reach the town of Gabrovo. In Gabrovo, follow signs for the R-55 road heading towards the town of Apriltsi. Continue on R-55 for approximately 25 km until you arrive in Apriltsi. From Apriltsi, take the local road leading into Central Balkan National Park. There is a small parking area at the park entrance where you can leave your car.

To reach Central Balkan National Park using public transportation, begin your journey at the Veliko Tarnovo bus station. Take a bus headed to Gabrovo. The journey will take approximately 1 hour. Once in Gabrovo, transfer to a bus going towards Apriltsi. Buses run frequently, and this leg of the journey will take about 30 minutes. Upon arriving in Apriltsi, you will need to walk or take a taxi for the remaining distance to the park entrance, which is about 5 km away.
