Public Transport

From Bujumbura, take a local bus or minivan towards Rumonge. Once in Rumonge, board another bus heading towards R.N.3 and ask the driver to stop at Kigwena Forest Nature Reserve. The reserve is located along the main road (R.N.3). Expect to pay around BIF 1,000-2,000 for the bus fare from Rumonge. Be prepared to pay a small entrance fee upon arrival.
Taxi

From Rumonge, a taxi or motorcycle taxi (moto-taxi) can take you directly to Kigwena Forest Nature Reserve. Negotiate the fare before starting your journey. A moto-taxi may cost around BIF 2,000-3,000, while a regular taxi could be BIF 3,000-5,000. Ensure the driver knows the exact location of the reserve on R.N.3.
Car

From Rumonge, head south on R.N.3. Continue for approximately 20 kilometers until you see the entrance to Kigwena Forest Nature Reserve on your left. There may be a small fee to enter the reserve; be prepared with local currency. Parking is available near the entrance.
