Getting There

    From Santa Maria Beach, head north on the main road (EN1-FV3) towards Espargos. Continue straight for about 15 km until you reach the intersection with the road to Palmeira. Turn left at the intersection and follow the signs towards Palmeira. After about 5 km, you will see signs for Buracona. Follow the road for another 5 km, and you will arrive at the Blue Eye Cave. There is usually no entrance fee, but check for any updates.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Buracona from Santa Maria Beach using public transportation, first, find a 'aluguer' (shared taxi) that goes to Espargos. These can be found at various points in Santa Maria. Once you arrive in Espargos, look for another aluguer heading to Palmeira. After reaching Palmeira, ask the driver to drop you off at the turnoff for Buracona. From there, it's about a 5 km walk to the Blue Eye Cave. Make sure to confirm the total fare with the driver before starting your journey, as prices may vary.
