If you're starting from the Big Sur River Inn, head south along the California Coastal Trail. Follow the trail which offers stunning views of the coastline. Continue on this trail for about 1.5 miles until you reach the entrance of Point Lobos State Natural Reserve. Upon entering the reserve, follow the signs towards the China Cove trail. The trail is well-marked and will lead you through beautiful landscapes. The hike is approximately 1 mile from the entrance to China Cove. Begin your journey at the nearest bus stop in Big Sur. Take the Monterey-Salinas Transit Bus Line 22 towards Carmel. Get off at the nearest stop to Point Lobos State Natural Reserve. From there, it’s about a 1.5-mile walk to the entrance of the reserve. Once you arrive at Point Lobos, follow the trail signs directing you to China Cove. The path is approximately 1 mile from the entrance. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes and enjoy the natural beauty of the area!
