Walking
From the heart of Carmel-by-the-Sea, start at the intersection of Ocean Avenue and San Carlos Street. Head south on San Carlos Street towards 7th Avenue. Continue on San Carlos until you reach the intersection with 8th Avenue. Turn left onto 8th Avenue and walk until you reach Mission Street. Turn right onto Mission Street and proceed to the intersection with 9th Avenue. At this point, you will notice signs directing you towards Point Lobos State Natural Reserve. Continue straight until you see the entrance to Point Lobos. Once inside the park, follow the signs towards the Whalers Cabin Museum, which is located near the main trail.

If you have access to a bike rental, start at the Carmel Plaza. Exit the plaza onto Mission Street and head south. Follow Mission Street until you reach 8th Avenue, then turn left. Continue on 8th Avenue until you reach the intersection with San Carlos Street. Turn right on San Carlos and head down to the entrance of Point Lobos State Natural Reserve. Inside the park, look for the designated bike paths that lead to the Whalers Cabin Museum.
