The Presidio of Monterey Museum is located within the Lower Presidio Historic Park, situated above Lighthouse Curve in downtown Monterey. If you are in the downtown area, follow Pacific Street uphill towards the Presidio. Look for signs directing you to the Lower Presidio Historic Park. The museum is a short walk from Colton Hall and other downtown attractions. The walk involves a moderate incline.

Monterey-Salinas Transit (MST) offers several routes that stop near downtown Monterey. From the Monterey Transit Plaza, follow the walking directions above. Check the MST website for the most up-to-date routes and schedules. The MST Trolley is a free service that operates during the summer months (Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day) and connects downtown Monterey, Fisherman's Wharf, and Cannery Row. Use the trolley to reach downtown, then walk to the museum.

From Highway 1, take the Del Monte Avenue exit towards downtown Monterey. Follow Del Monte Avenue until you reach the Fisherman's Wharf area. Turn onto Pacific Street and follow it uphill towards the Presidio. Limited free parking is available within the Lower Presidio Historic Park near the museum. Parking is also available in downtown Monterey, with hourly rates typically around $1.50 per hour. All day parking is available in downtown garages for around $12.00. Be aware that parking can be limited, especially during peak tourist season.
