Getting There

  • Public Transport

    From the 19th St/Oakland BART station, take AC Transit bus line NL, 12, 58L, 75, or 805 towards Lake Merritt. Get off near Lakeside Park and walk a short distance to the Gardens. Alternatively, from the Lake Merritt BART station, it's possible to walk, but it is about two miles to the heart of Grand Ave. BART fare is approximately $1-$2 , and AC Transit fares are around $2.50 for a single ride.

  • Walking

    If you are already near Lake Merritt, such as Children's Fairyland or the Municipal Boathouse, the Gardens are easily accessible by foot. Follow the paved paths along the lake's edge towards the north end of the lake. The Gardens are located within Lakeside Park, and admission is free. Be aware that the trail around the lake is a combination of pavement and hard-packed dirt.

  • Driving

    From I-580 E, take the Grand Ave/Lakeshore exit; from I-580 W, take the Grand Ave exit. Follow signs to Lakeside Park. Parking is available inside Lakeside Park on Bellevue Avenue. Parking fees are $2 for two hours on weekdays or $10 for all-day parking, and $5 for all-day parking on weekends and holidays. Parking operating hours are from 7:30 am until dusk. Free parking may be available on Bellevue Avenue.
