Discover more about Central Coast Wine Country® (CCWC)

Central Coast Wine Country® serves as the perfect starting point for an unforgettable journey through one of California's most fascinating wine regions. Stretching along the coastline from San Francisco Bay to Santa Barbara, the Central Coast is home to some of the most prestigious wineries in the country. The region's cool climate, influenced by the Pacific Ocean, creates ideal conditions for producing a diverse range of wines, with Chardonnay accounting for more than 50% of the total grape production. The Central Coast played a vital role in the uplifting of American viticulture. Viticulture on the Central Coast is among the earliest in California when a group of Spanish Franciscan monks made their way north on El Camino Real in the late 1700s. The winemakers revived the wine business in the late 1970s, and in 1985, the Central Coast was recognized as a wine region. From the cowboy-friendly atmosphere of Paso Robles, boasting over 200 wineries and 26,000 acres of vineyards, to the elegant Edna Valley near San Luis Obispo, where sustainable practices are a priority, the Central Coast offers a diverse range of experiences. Explore the hidden gems of the Santa Ynez Valley and discover why the Central Coast is a must-visit destination for wine lovers.
