The Old Town Transit Center, adjacent to the park, is served by the San Diego Trolley (Green Line), Coaster, and several MTS bus routes. From the transit center, it's a short, easy walk north towards San Diego Avenue and Twiggs Street, the heart of Old Town. MTS bus route 83 also runs from the Old Town Transit Center to Juan St & Mason St, which is a 7 minute walk to the park. A single ride on the bus or trolley costs $2.50.

If you are already in the Old Town neighborhood, walking to the park is straightforward. From most points in Old Town, head towards the intersection of San Diego Avenue and Twiggs Street. The park entrance is easily identifiable from this central location. Look for the Robinson-Rose Visitor Information Center to orient yourself. Note that the terrain within the park includes cobblestone streets and uneven surfaces.

If driving, approach Old Town via I-5 or I-8. Exit at Old Town Avenue and follow signs to Old Town. Free parking lots are available near the park (e.g. 4016 Wallace Street), but they can fill up quickly, especially on weekends and during special events. Street parking is also available, but may be limited. Be aware of parking time limits. Parking is free for up to 4 hours.
