Getting There

  • Public Transit - Muni

    If you are starting from Union Square, walk to the Powell St. BART station and take the BART train towards the East Bay. Get off at the Embarcadero station. Once you exit the station, head east on Market St. towards the Embarcadero waterfront, then turn left onto the Embarcadero. Walk along the waterfront for about 10 minutes until you reach Pier 15, where the Exploratorium is located.

  • Public Transit - Bus

    From the Ferry Building Marketplace, walk to the bus stop at the corner of Market St. and Embarcadero. Take Muni bus 12 or 82 towards the Marina District. Get off at the stop at Pier 15. The Exploratorium will be right next to you as you get off the bus.

  • Walking

    If you are at Fisherman's Wharf, head southeast along the waterfront towards Pier 15. This walk will take about 20 minutes. Follow the path along Jefferson St., which turns into the Embarcadero. Continue walking straight, and you will see the Exploratorium at Pier 15 on your left.

  • Cable Car

    If you are near the Powell-Hyde cable car line, board the cable car at the Powell St. station. Ride until you reach the end of the line at Fisherman's Wharf. From there, walk along Jefferson St. towards the Embarcadero, which will take about 15 minutes. Turn left at the Embarcadero, and you will find the Exploratorium at Pier 15.
