Getting There

  • Driving

    From Fresno, take CA-180 East towards Kings Canyon National Park. The drive is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Once inside the park, continue on the Kings Canyon Scenic Byway to Cedar Grove. The pack station is located just outside Cedar Grove Village. There are no mandatory tolls. Parking is available near the pack station, but can be limited during peak season. Parking is free.

  • Hiking

    Several trails lead to Cedar Grove from other areas within Kings Canyon National Park. From Grant Grove, follow the well-marked trails towards Cedar Grove, a hike of approximately 6 miles that takes 3-4 hours. From Lodgepole Visitor Center, take the trail heading southeast towards the Giant Forest, following signs for the 'Cedar Grove' trailhead. This is approximately a 5-mile hike taking 2-3 hours. No special permits are needed for day hiking, but wilderness permits are required for overnight backpacking trips.
