Make sure to ask the bus driver for the schedule to ensure you catch the right bus. After about a 30-minute ride, get off at the stop for Virginia City. From the bus stop, it's approximately a 10-minute walk to Mackay Mansion Museum. Head south on S D St until you reach 291 S D St.

If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a bike from one of the local shops in Tahoe City. Once you have your bike, cycle south on North Lake Boulevard, crossing the bridge. Follow the signs for Virginia City. The ride is scenic and will take you approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive in Virginia City, park your bike and walk to Mackay Mansion Museum located at 291 S D St.
