Driving
To reach Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park, driving is the most common approach. From Peterborough, take Highway 28 north. Access points to the park are located off Highway 28, such as Anstruther Lake Road for access to Anstruther Lake, or Long Lake Road for Long Lake. From Toronto, the drive is approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. Parking is available at designated access points, but capacity is limited, especially during peak season. A daily vehicle permit is required. Parking fees vary, check the Ontario Parks website for current rates. As of July 2025, daily parking fees range from $12.25 to $15.50 CAD depending on the specific park.

If arriving by train or bus to Peterborough, a taxi or ride-sharing service can be used to reach the park access points. From Peterborough, the taxi fare to reach an access point such as Anstruther Lake is approximately $100 - $150 CAD, and the journey takes about 1 hour. It's advisable to pre-book a taxi or ride-sharing service, especially during peak season, to ensure availability. Keep in mind that cell service can be limited in some areas of the park.
