Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of San Pedro de Atacama, head south on Caracoles Street towards the main road (Route 23). Continue walking until you reach the intersection with Route 23. This is approximately a 15-20 minute walk from the plaza. Once you reach Route 23, you can either catch a local taxi or take a shared van (colectivo) heading towards Valle de la Luna. Make sure to ask the driver to drop you off at Valle de la Luna, which is about 13 kilometers from the center of San Pedro.

    To take a shared van, walk to the main square (Plaza de Armas) in San Pedro de Atacama. Look for colectivos waiting to depart. The fare is usually around 3,000 to 5,000 CLP per person. Inform the driver that you want to go to Valle de la Luna. The ride will take about 30-40 minutes. The colectivo will drop you off at the entrance to the Valley of the Moon.
