Discover more about Estes Park Aerial Tramway

The Estes Park Aerial Tramway, a beloved attraction since 1955, offers a unique journey to the summit of Prospect Mountain. Designed and built by Robert Heron, who gained experience constructing alpine trams during World War II, the tramway provides stunning panoramic views of Estes Park, Longs Peak, and the Continental Divide. The ride itself is a smooth, five-minute ascent in bright red cable cars that carry up to 12 passengers. The tramway's design, a free span between the bottom and top stations, is uncommon in the United States and contributes to the smooth ride. At the summit (8,700 feet), visitors can explore light hiking trails, enjoy refreshments at the coffee shop, browse the souvenir shop, and take in the breathtaking views from the observation deck. Friendly chipmunks are known to frequent the area, adding to the mountain's charm. The tram typically operates from late May to early September, weather permitting.
