The Pueblo Firefighters Historical Center, located in downtown Pueblo, is dedicated to preserving and presenting the history of the Pueblo Fire Department and its firefighters. The Historical Society was started in 1995 by a group of Pueblo firefighters led by Captain Larry Bond. In 2003, they began managing the Hose Co. No. 3 Fire Museum and continue to add artifacts and pictures of the Pueblo Fire Department and its firefighters. The museum displays a collection of vintage fire apparatus, equipment, and memorabilia. Exhibits include Pueblo's first motorized fire truck, a 1911 American LaFrance Chemical Wagon, which the Pueblo City Council helped the firefighters purchase. The building that houses the museum was built in 1895. The Pueblo Firefighters Historical Society is a non-profit organization that relies on donations and volunteers to maintain and preserve Pueblo's firefighting history. The museum offers tours and participates in community events.
