Walking
From downtown Salida, access the Tenderfoot Hill trails by heading north towards the Arkansas River. Cross the railroad tracks near the Boathouse restaurant and Scout River Wave to find the trailhead. The Frontside Trail is a popular route to the summit. Parking is free in the lot near the trailhead. No costs are associated with accessing the trails.
Public Transport
Mountain Valley Transit (formerly Chaffee Shuttle) provides public transportation in Salida and Buena Vista. Check their website or call for schedules and routes to access the general vicinity of downtown Salida. From there, follow the walking directions to reach the trailhead. Donations are appreciated for the service. There is no set fee.
