Discover more about Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center

The Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center, managed by the City of Salida Parks and Recreation Department, stands as a testament to both community resilience and the natural geothermal wonders of Colorado. Constructed in 1937 as a project of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) during the Great Depression, the center provided employment for nearly 200 men who hand-dug the pipeline and built the facility. Today, it welcomes families, residents, and visitors alike to relax, play, and soak in its mineral-rich waters. The center boasts the largest indoor hot springs pool in North America, featuring a large 25-meter, six-lane lap pool maintained at 82-84°F, perfect for exercise and swimming. A leisure pool, kept at a warmer 97-100°F with a zero-depth entry, caters to families and those seeking relaxation. For a more private experience, three European-style soaking pools are available for hourly rental, allowing guests to customize their soaking temperature. The odorless, clear geothermal water is sourced from springs in Poncha Springs, located approximately 4.5 miles from Salida, and flows to the center via gravity. The Aquatic Center also offers a variety of aquatic fitness classes, swim lessons, and special events throughout the year. The facility is ADA-compliant, ensuring accessibility for all visitors. Showers are required before entering the pools.
