Discover more about Trinidad History Museum

The Trinidad History Museum, occupying an entire city block in Trinidad's historic district, invites visitors to step back in time and explore the vibrant history of Southern Colorado and the American West. The museum is composed of four buildings, including three historic buildings constructed in the late 19th century: the Bloom Mansion, the Baca House, and the Barglow Building. The Bloom Mansion, built in 1882, exemplifies Second Empire architecture and showcases the opulent lifestyle of a prominent local family. The Baca House, an adobe home dating back to the 1870s, offers a glimpse into the lives of early settlers with its period furnishings and textiles. The Barglow Building, constructed in 1906, once served as a medical office and family apartment and has been restored to highlight its Greek-influenced architectural style. The Santa Fe Trail Museum, housed within the complex, explores the significance of the Santa Fe Trail, which passed through southeastern Colorado. Visitors can wander through the Baca-Bloom Heritage Gardens, where Victorian roses mingle with cacti and native grasses. Featured exhibitions, such as Borderlands of Southern Colorado and Children of Ludlow, delve into the region's diverse cultural and ethnic heritage, including the impact of the Colorado Coalfield Strike and Ludlow Massacre. The museum also hosts lectures and tours throughout the year, providing deeper insights into Colorado history.
