Discover more about Jazz At Lincoln Center

Jazz at Lincoln Center stands as a beacon for jazz enthusiasts worldwide, offering a multifaceted experience that encompasses performance, education, and cultural advocacy. Founded in 1987, it wasn't until 2004 that Jazz at Lincoln Center found its permanent home in the Time Warner Center (now Deutsche Bank Center) at Columbus Circle. This location was the world's first performance, education, and broadcast facility devoted to jazz. The complex, known as Frederick P. Rose Hall, was designed by architect Rafael Viñoly and engineered specifically for the acoustics of jazz. It comprises three main venues: the Rose Theater, a configurable space that can seat over 1,200; The Appel Room, an intimate space with panoramic city views; and Dizzy's Club, a 140-seat jazz club modeled after the classic New York jazz clubs. The Irene Diamond Education Center provides rehearsal and recording rooms for students. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Wynton Marsalis, the organization has grown from a summer concert series to a year-round institution that reaches approximately 3 million people annually. Jazz at Lincoln Center hosts performances by its resident orchestra, the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, as well as by visiting musicians from around the globe. The organization also provides educational programs, including workshops, lectures, and school visits, and distributes jazz curriculums to high schools. Jazz at Lincoln Center's mission extends beyond performance to preserve the cultural heritage of jazz music. Through its archive, the organization works to ensure that the legacy of jazz is passed on to future generations.
