Once you reach 8th Avenue, take the A, C, or E subway train downtown to 59th Street - Columbus Circle. From there, transfer to the 1 subway line heading downtown and get off at the W 86th Street station. Walk east on W 86th Street until you reach Riverside Drive, then turn left and walk north until you see the Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument on your right.
