Public Transport
From anywhere along the main road (Ara Tapu), catch either the Clockwise or Anti-Clockwise bus. These buses circle the island regularly. The bus will stop anywhere along the main road; just wave to signal the driver. Get off the bus closest to Hawaiki Villas in Tikioki Tapere. As of July 2025, a single ride on the bus costs NZ$5. A round trip (circle island tour) also costs NZ$8.

Taxi
Taxis are available on Rarotonga, but they cannot be hailed from the roadside. It's best to pre-book a taxi by phone or have your accommodation arrange it. Ask for a fixed rate before starting your journey. As of July 2025, taxi fares start at NZ$10, with a rate of approximately NZ$3 per kilometer. A taxi from the airport to Muri, which is a similar distance to Hawaiki Villas, costs around NZ$40-45 per person.
